Severstal-metiz Increases Reinforcing Steel Fiber Production
This specially-shaped product made from fine steel wire enables fast and reliable reinforcement of concrete structures. The company has successfully adopted the production of five standard size types of fiber, three of which have an ordinary hooked end making them suitable for any building structures, while two types have a complex hooked end and are designed for structures with stringent requirements for resistance to loads and cracking. "The consumption growth has been impacted by a challenging economic situation and the customers' commitment to continue construction under current conditions, cutting construction time and costs. Our material makes this possible. The clients who had chosen this product and our technical solutions saw their feasibility, cost efficiency and reduced construction time. Therefore, in 2026, Severstal-metiz expects further growth in demand for fiber and seeks to take part in large construction projects, guaranteeing the quality and reliability of our product," said Sergey Kovryakov, the CEO of Severstal-metiz. Using steel fiber for concrete reinforcement makes it possible to create new floor structures with enhanced performance. This treatment is 1.5–2 times more resistant to abrasion and dynamic loads including impact, significantly better resists to frost and has notably longer service life. In addition, the construction of steel fiber reinforced concrete floors is more cost-efficient than conventional reinforcement methods by 20 %.
