For the wire and cable industry, Severstal-metiz supplies special steel-aluminum conductors, wire and cores and also ropes and fasteners designed for overhead power lines. Thus, in 2025, one of the new products – a core made of high-strength high-carbon wire with a zinc-aluminum coating – has been honored with an award on the International Exhibition "Metal-Expo 2025". The high-strength core is used in uninsulated reinforced conductors for overhead power lines. It allows an overhead power line to use significantly fewer poles due to an increased distance between them. The zinc-aluminum coating on the wire forming part of the core structure provides the margin of durability and reliability when an overhead power line is installed close to the seashore and in a humid climate.
